Today is Kaydee's last day of Kindergarten. Shane, Abby and I went to the Kindergarten Graduation this morning. The kids did a great job with their songs! And Kaydee even got an award! She was one of two Kindergarteners (one boy, one girl) chosen as "Best Kindergarten Artist" by the art teacher. (Or something like that.....I don't remember the exact name of the award and I left the certificate with KD at school.) And then they each walked across the stage and shook hands with the principle and received a "diploma." We had cake and punch in the library afterwards--it was really neat. We were too far back to get any really good pictures of graduation but there are some in the May Media Gallery.

It's Spring Break here in Barrow County, and the girls have been asking for weeks to go see the "dinosaur bones." So today we headed down to Fernbank to see the dinosaur bones (and all the other neat stuff). The girls had fun but were worn out by the time we left! There are lots more pictures in the April 2010 gallery. :-)

This morning on the way to school there was an abandoned recliner on the side of the road. Our conversation:
Kaydee: "How did THAT get there?"
Me: "Someone probably dumped it there. That was rude, wasn't it?"
Kaydee: "I think somebody probably left it on their porch and some creepy animal came and carried it away."

Turning on the street Kaydee's school is Abby said, "Where's Kaydee's school"? I said, "Right there." Abby: "Well when did THAT happen?"
I can't believe it's been six years since this sweet little girl came into the world. They say time flies when you're having fun, and when you're with Kaydee, you are having FUN. In our house birthdays are a big deal. Kaydee got to choose what we did all day, what we ate and where we ate it. So after she opened her gifts this morning--she got money and more supplies for her doctor kit---we ate "white cereal" for breakfast. ("White Cereal" is Frosted Mini Wheats :-) ). Once we were all dressed we went to the Mall of Georgia and went shopping. Kaydee bought herself a new shirt with a giraffe on it. Then we went to Jump for Joy (a "jumpy place" with the big inflatables)....we got there right at 11:00am and there was NO ONE there. I was worried that they weren't going to open today. We killed some time at Bed Bath & Beyond and when we went back at 11:15 J for J was open--hurray!! The girls had a blast jumping and going down the big slide.
We ate lunch at "Noodle Cutty" (Stevie B's Pizza) and they gave Kaydee 6 free tokens for the arcade games. She "won" enough tickets to get foam dice for both herself and Abby. We stopped at Publix on the way home to pick up her cake and the few things we needed for her birthday dinner. While Abby took her nap we played Hungry Hungry Hippos and Kaydee patched up several "Boo-boo"s with her doctor kit. We had a gourmet dinner of Taquitos, salad, corn bread, and strawberries. Hey, the what the birthday girl wants the birthday girl gets. We had cake, then a bubble bath, and Kaydee gets to sleep with Mommy and Daddy tonight. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAYDEE ROSE!!!!!
6 Things About Kaydee:
1. Kaydee wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Lately that's all she talks about. At least until soccer season starts again....
2. Kaydee's favorite clothing is pajamas. She has more pajamas than anyone I know. Mostly fancy princess gowns. And she would wear them all the time if I would let her.
3. Kaydee's second favorite clothing is soccer shorts/t-shirts. The number of soccer shorts she owns comes just under the number of nightgowns. She settles for soccer clothes when I won't let her wear her pajamas.
4. Kaydee is a GREAT big sister. However, she sometimes gets the role of "sister" and "mother" confused and ends up crossing the line of sisterly advice/bossiness. But she LOVES her little sister and has vowed to teach her "everything she knows."
5. Shane says that Kaydee is silly. This is true. She tells silly stories, makes up silly dances, and acts silly all the time.
6. Kaydee loves her family. She counts down to every visit to Greema and PopPop and Meema and Pap. She asks about her extended family all the time. She was SO excited when she got to see Jacob and Caleb at Grandma Sara's funeral. She adores her sister and her cousins--and the feeling is mutual: Addie and Isaac can't get enough of Kaydee. And we can't either---WE LOVE YOU, KAYDEEBUGG!!!!!
Check out all of the pictures from Kaydee's birthday in the January 2010 Gallery. :)

I am a list person. Case in point--my current lists include: Grocery list, short-term to do list (send apples to school with Kaydee on Monday...), long term to-do list (finish scrapbooks, organize craftroom....), Christmas Card list, Christmas/Birthday gift list, Primary list, books to read list, food storage list, cleaning list....you get the idea.
It looks like Kaydee is also going to be a list person. She brought me this list---written and illustrated all on her own. I'm pretty impressed!!

Kaydee would like to sum up her first day of kindergarten with one simple word: Wow.
She had a great first day. She says her favorite part of Kindergarten is recess. (Quick learner.) Her other favorite part is everything else. (Go figure.) She loves her teacher, she's already made some new friends (although she can't remember their names), she got to go to the computer lab today and she ate all of her lunch and loved it. (She had "square raviolis and square white crackers and green beans and peaches and milk---white milk".) The only negative thing she had to say was that she is mad that I didn't sign her up to ride the bus. "You check 'car rider every single day', Mom. Why did you do that? I want to ride the bus like everyone else in my class." Sorry, charlie. And just for your information, everyone in her class does NOT ride the bus.
Abby had a rough start to the day without her playmate....she spent a great deal of time calling for Kaydee and kissing her picture. She ran to KD and gave her a great big hug when we got home. And now they're playing together and everything is groovy again. Let's hope the rest of the year is just as much fun.....now if I could only figure out what we're supposed to with her homework assignment.....

So I made the mistake on Monday to mention that today is Kaydee's "Half Birthday"---she's 5 1/2 today. Well, she started planning a party at the jumpy place with all of her friends and their friends with cakes and pizza and movies and slumber parties and candy and popcorn and music and dancing....you get the idea. Luckily she settled for a morning of swimming and lunch at McDonald's with Davis. And two other friends from school were there so it turned out to be a party after all. Thank you, Davis & Miss Emily for a super fun day!! See all the pictures in the July Media Gallery.
(On a side note....Abby L*O*V*E*S Miss Emily! And for any of you who know Abby....she does NOT warm up to adults easily. If at all. She usually clams up and sticks to Mommy like glue. Well, she talks Miss Emily's ear off and today she even let Miss Emily hold her in the pool!! For Abby that is HUGE! Guess I know who I'm going to use as a babysitter in the future...... ;-) )

Kaydee's Preschool Graduation was last night. It was bittersweet watching Kaydee and her friends march in to Pomp & Circumstance. Her class did an AWESOME job reciting Psalm 23 and their poem. I was so proud of them. Meema, Pap, Gammie, Babu, Aunt GoGo (no one in our family has "normal" nicknames in case you were wondering), Addie & Isaac all traveled down from Ohio and West Virginia to come to the graduation. It was neat to have them there! I have lots of pictures of the cousins but didn't feel like uploading them all today....maybe tomorrow....
Meanwhile, enjoy the pictures of Kaydee's graduation in the May album! CONGRATULATIONS Kaydee!! (And Davis, Katie, Anabelle, Kaden, Owen, Jamie, Ansley, Jacob, and Gavyn! Miss Lisa's class was GREAT last night!
